How to sell
The Maternitywear Exchange is the UK's largest Maternitywear Dress Agency
We are always looking for good quality second hand maternitywear to offer onto the next generation of mums to be.
If you have surplus maternitywear for the future season:
- In good condition
- In perfect repair
- Cleaned and pressed
- Not more than 4 years old.
we would like to hear from you, particularly in sizes 8 and 20+. Items for autumn/winter sales should ideally be received before September; spring/summer items should ideally be received by February.
You receive 40% of the sales price of the items. We pay you once items have sold. We ask that you contact us within the first 3 months of giving us your items to check your sales and we only pay if you are due more than £50.00 in total. If you are due less than £50.00 the sum will be carried over when additional items will hopefully sell.
Items will not be accepted without a signed Agency Agreement, which can be emailed and printed off and included when you post clothing to us.
As soon as the second hand maternitywear is entered onto the system and photographed, we will produce a pricing schedule and post that to you. It will detail the address we have to send the cheques to, all the items we have included in the Exchange, with a unique code number, as well as its expected selling price. You would receive 40% of that price.
The Agency Agreement details that we can reduce the prices further if they do not sell in the first few months and also what happens if the clothing has not sold after 24 months. I reserve the right to reduce the prices of some items if I have a buyer or believe it would help move a slow selling garment.
There are several ways you can contact us to discuss us acting on your behalf and selling your second hand maternity clothing.
Visit our Maternitywear Exchange.
If you are local, please call for an appointment and we can look through the maternity clothes you want to sell over a coffee. You leave the clothes at the exchange, and we do the rest.
If it is too far to travel to us, don't worry, there are several ways we can discuss selling your clothing on your behalf.
Send an email to me on firstname.lastname@example.org. I will need a description of each item (colour, material, features, patterns, etc.), maternity manufacturer, size, condition (if it is not "as new".); shop price (or what you paid in the shops). The best way is to prepare an Excel spreadsheet - this will act as a secondary checking list for you when we produce your final list of accepted clothes. Please do this for all your items. ALL items must be in good condition e.g. no repair needs, clean and pressed. We do not accept UNDERWEAR unless it is brand new and still has tags attached.
Please be diligent as if we receive goods that we are not happy with we will ask you to arrange to collect them if you are local, or we will dispose of them. If you have sent them to us by post, we will not return them to you but we will tell you what we are not accepting and why. Please consider that our reputation is based on only "as new" quality. Please do not send maternity clothing in a condition you would not be prepared to buy it in!
Please don't forget your address and a telephone number so that we can get in contact if we need to clarify any details. You will need to sign and enclose a copy of our Agency Agreement for us to start to market your maternity wear to sell.
You can contact us by letter sent to:
The Maternitywear Exchange Ltd.
Cores End Road
Please include the details as described above in the email enquiry. Again you will need to print off and sign a copy of the Agency Agreement before we will put your maternity clothing on the system or market them.
Please call us on 01628 851187. We will ask for the same details as on the email enquiry as above. We will then need to email or post a copy of the Agency Agreement for you to sign and post back to us, with the clothing.
Please DO NOT send items to us without our prior knowledge as sometimes we are offered too much stock and have to prioritise what we accept in terms of sizing and season. If this is the case we will try and accept it at a later date but strongly suggest that you find an alternative source for it.
