We went through
all those thoughts and started the Maternitywear Exchange 5 years ago.
 "When
I was
expecting the first of our two girls I discovered the problems a mother-to-be has of finding
maternity clothes, let alone the
expense of buying clothes that are only used for such a short
period of time. I had always bought
better quality clothes in Dress Agency shops and I thought Maternity
clothes were ideal for a Dress Agency, especially as maternity wear has probably had one
careful owner for only 6-9 months."
The concept of "The Maternitywear Exchange" is to
provide a
service to pregnant women by offering affordable,
good quality maternity clothes in relaxed surroundings. That is either in the
comfort of their own home or in ours. Miriam
was disappointed by the lack of range and the high cost of maternity
clothes.
Since October 1999
we have built up a
collection of thousands of items, and a database of mums in the area of all
shapes, sizes and styles.
Our concept is for women to spend time browsing and
trying on clothing in a relaxed, comfortable home environment, either
on-line or in a local home, with friendly and
knowledgeable help from a recent mum.
We
are now looking to offer our service across the UK.
