MANUFACTURERS' SIZING INFORMATIONAlthough there has been much discussion in the last few years about a standardized measurement for maternity clothing to be used by all manufacturers, this is still far from reality and it is therefore important to remember that you may wear different sizes in maternity clothes between manufacturers as you would in pre-pregnancy sizes. Please note: Some of my customers have found the Formes trousers a tight fit - the French do not appear to have hips! so they have bought trousers one size bigger than the jackets and tops. If in doubt ask for exact measurements. Jackets, two-piece suits, dresses and shirts
Jersey Dresses
Cardigans, Jumpers, T-shirts
Trousers & Skirts
Back to TopAccording to their catalogue, sizes are based on pre-pregnancy sizing but they give no indication of bust or hip sizing. Sizes 10-24 as pre-pregnancy
Blooming Marvellous also offer various lengths for some of their skirts, trousers and dresses. The "shorter" length is for women 5'3" and under, "standard" for 5'3" -5'7" and the "longer" for 5'8" and taller. Back to TopNEXT and TOPSHOP Another company who state that their clothes are based on your pre-pregnancy size. They also cater for a number of lengths, stating that a "short" length is based on an inside leg of 27.5/28" and a "regular" length of 29/30". Their clothing sizes range from 8 - 18. Top Shop do longer length jeans of 33" plus! Back to TopAgain they recommend that you buy based on your pre-pregnancy size but they have given guide line measurements in their catalogue.
Back to TopMOTHERCARE, DOROTHY PERKINS, MARKS & SPENCER, C&A Again measurements are based on pre-pregnancy sizes. Check the measurements
of individual items before you buy, particularly with lengths as these companies
do not generally make a distinction between petite and tall. Marks and Spencers
no longer do maternity clothes but we have a good selection of second
hand items. |
